Dwaine “Croc” Perry Peterson, 91, of Moline, passed away January 26, 2019, in Okeechobee, Florida.
Per dad’s wishes, services were held at the Rock Island National Cemetery on July 12, 2019, where military honors were conducted. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. assisted the family.
Croc was born on November 5, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Perry M. and Frances (Carlson) Peterson. He married Beverly Gillette on September 4, 1948, in Moline. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2010. Throughout his life, Croc and his wife, Bev, enjoyed fishing, euchre, crossword puzzles, traveling and golfing. Croc retired as a claim adjuster with State Farm Insurance in Moline.
He was a US. Navy veteran serving in WWII and was a member of the Moline American Legion Post No. 246, the Moline VFW, and the Moline Vikings Thor Lodge No. 9. He was also a former member of the Moline Elks.
Survivors include his children, Carolyn (Douglas) Peterson Carlstrom, Milan, Sharon (Jamie) Bruce, Cambridge, and Dr. Kenneth Peterson, Austin, TX; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Birk, Bethlehem, PA. He will be missed dearly by his family and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
