E. Elaine Czerwinski, 77, of Moline, passed away, December 5, 2024, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery (on the Northeast corner). Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Memorials may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley.
Elaine was born on July 29, 1947, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Elda (Hessman) and Ralph Cox. She was raised on a farm near Eliza, IL. She married Mark Czerwinski on February 4, 1999, in Reno, NV. In her younger years, Elaine worked at Franks Foundry in Moline, IL; she later worked for John Deere Seeding & Harvester as the payroll supervisor, retiring after 32 years. Elaine was an avid bowler, playing in a JD Harvester League. She found joy in participating in monthly lunches with the Harvester’s Ladies Lunch Bunch, took on the role of scorekeeper in pool tournaments, played shuffleboard at Leisure Time Billiards, and cherished her time spent woodworking and crafting cabinets with her husband Mark.
Elaine always prioritized the needs of others over her own. She was a remarkably nurturing, affectionate, and empathetic person. Her nickname as the "Cookie Lady" stemmed from her well-known homemade cookies, which she delighted in sharing with those around her.
Survivors include her husband, Mark; children, Lee Coker of Rochester, MN., Matt Czerwinski of Moline, IL., Mark Czerwinski Jr (Ronda) of Oskaloosa, IA., Mary Gallardo (Mario) of Rock Island, IL., and Kara Smith (Eric) of Piedmont, OK.; 12 grandchildren, Bret, Erin, Brianna, Nick, Jake, Austin, Camron, Tyler, Jordan, Jarrett, David, and Henry; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph L. Cox (Sharon) of Dolliver, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elda and Ralph Cox; brothers, C. LeRoy Cox and Ken L. Cox; stepson, Thom Coker; daughter-in-law, Lynn Coker.
