Earl L. Hanson age 79 of Rock Island died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at his residence.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Earl was born on May 10, 1926 in Rock Island the son of Earl and Rose Linnea Anderson Hanson He married Emma Jean Bokholdt on September 17, 1955.
Earl entered the service in 1944, and was honorably discharged from the US Army as a corporal in 1946. He was employed by the US Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Earl also worked in the Postal Department at Augustana College, Rock Island.
Earl loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed boating, fishing and a good cup of coffee.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; sons and daughters-in-law David & Sally Hanson, Davenport; Charles & Andrea Hanson, Moline; daughter and son-in-law Patricia & David Jarrard, Richmond, VA; 5 grandchildren Ryan, Shawn, Tim, Alex & Noah.
Preceeding him in death are his parents Earl & Linnea,; brother Robert & sister Karen.
