Earl Victor Paasch

Earl Victor Paasch, 88, of East Moline, died November 24, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Curtis Corner Baptist Church Wakefield, RI, Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline or First Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Earl was born March 4, 1921 in Welton, IA to Arthur and Frances (Schmidt) Paasch. He married Alice L. Jones on November 6, 1943 in Davenport. His beloved wife of 62 ½ years preceded him in death on April 16, 2006.
Earl was employed for 43 years at Standard Forwarding, East Moline. He retired on November 4, 1984. He was the second employee hired for the company. During his retirement interview, Earl stated "I always had a lot of love for my company. I grew with them, and worked hard and helped them grow." He also stated that "The secret to life is loving people and helping people. People make life a joy and making people happy just makes life more enjoyable." While he was at Standard he worked on the dock, as a dispatcher, in the office as a terminal manager, as a salesman, but mostly he drove for the company. .
Earl held dual membership at Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline where he was an active lifetime member and Deacon and at First Baptist Church, Rock Island. He was a member of the Traffic Club, East Moline Rotary Club, Moline Senior Citizen Club, and was a Teamster member. He also enjoyed playing bridge and was known as the "Recycling King."
