Eddie C. Curtis, age 69, of East Moline, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 25, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Eddie was born August 22, 1941 in Richardsville, Kentucky to Rural and Elsie (Young) Curtis Johnson.
Eddie was employed at John Deere and worked in tobacco fields as a teenager. He was a Marine Veteran having entered the service on September 2, 1958. He was a member of the Second Battalion Platoon 294 stationed in Puerto Rico. Eddie was a member of Church of Christ, Moline. Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and coin collecting. He also participated in bowling leagues. Eddie had a love for country western shows and music. Eddie loved his family very much. He was proud to have walked his daughter Tanya down the isle and was there at the birth of his first grandchild. Eddie's birth name was originally spelled "Curtiss" but he didn't like it so he dropped the second "s".
