Edgar Howard Anderson, age 85, of Moline died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at his residence.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205-60th Street, Moline. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Jacksonville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 2642 E. 21st Street, Suite # 100, Tulsa, OK. 74114 or to Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
Howard was born May 1, 1919 in Virginia, IL, the only child of Edgar and Nola Patricia Barron Anderson. He married Orieda Horn on August 16, 1943 in Pryor, OK.
Howard graduated from Routt High School in 1936. He then graduated from Notre Dame in 1940 with a B.S. in chemical engineering. He worked for the DuPont Company and was assigned to the Manhattan Project which developed the atomic bomb. Following the war he farmed in Concord, IL for 12 years. He returned to industrial employment in 1958 working for the Clinton Corn Processing Company in Clinton, IA for 25 years and at the R.I. Arsenal for 5 years.
Howard was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Clinton Engineering Club. He loved music and traveling in his motor home.
