Edward C. Danielsen, 86, of Sherrard, IL, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Silver Cross Health & Rehab, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rural Township at Beulah, where military honors will be conducted by the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166.  Memorials may be made to the Quad City Honor Flight.

Edward was born on September 10, 1930, in Dixon, IA, the son of Daniel and Caroline Dralle Danielsen.  He married Donna J. Nitzel on October 10, 1970, in Moline, IL.  Edward was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked as a production planner for Alcoa from January 17, 1955 to June of 1989, retiring after 34 years.

Edward was a current member of Heritage Wesleyan Church in Rock Island, where he was an usher.  He was a member of the Dixon, IA, American Legion and the Moline Viking Club.   Edward loved gardening and spending time with his family.  He especially enjoyed dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Beth (Tom) Thuringer, Sun Lakes, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Sunny Serres, Chicago, IL, Andrea (Justin) Culps, Shelby Township, MI, Randy Serres, Moline, IL, and Emily Serres, Meriden, CT; 2 great grandchildren, Sydni Culps and Joanne Serres; sister, Arla Mae Ebers, Lowden, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas; brother, Ted; sisters, Dorothy McMain, Louise Homrighausen; 2 step sons, Bruce and Randall Serres.
