Edward R. Gilmore, 65, of Silvis, IL, died Tuesday, March 03, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center - Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Military honors will be conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 776 and Chapter 299. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Vets Chapter 776 in Bettendorf.
Edward was born on September 24, 1949, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Robert and Martha Harland Gilmore. He married Janice Fulscher on December 29, 1971, in San Pedro, CA. He worked as a letter carrier for the Moline Post Office, retiring in 2004.
Edward proudly served in the United States Army First Calvary. He was a member of Vietnam Vets Chapter 776 in Bettendorf and Local Letter Carriers Union 318. He loved working on cars and helping others. Edward was a collector of everything and enjoyed long conversations with friends, family, and grandchildren.
