Edward Elmer Larson, 76, of Rock Island, died August 26, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, IL.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. Burial of cremains will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors conducted by Milan American Legion. Memorials may be made to the church.
Edward was born September 30, 1932 in Moline to Chester and Carrie (Birch) Larson. He married Janice Weir on June 11, 1966 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death in September of 1974. He later married Rebecca A. Clark-Hiatt on November 12, 1977 in Las Vegas.
Edward was employed at HQ AMCCOM at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring on August 30, 1990.
Edward was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Korea. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley where he was a former treasurer, usher and assistant to the secretary of the church. He was also a member of Milan American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, genealogy, playing cards, pool, dominos, crossword puzzles, reading, yard work and watching sports. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and an exceptional friend to all. He also enjoyed taking Swedish classes with his wife.
