Edward F. Peterson, 83, of Moline, died April 20, 2008 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 with a visitation one hour prior at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors conducted by East Moline American Legion Post #227. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family for an educational fund for his great grandchildren.
Edward was born March 20, 1925 in Moline to Carl and Edna (McElwain) Peterson. He married Evelyn Peeples on February 19, 1949 in Moline. He was a self-employed general contractor for over 50 years. Edward was the founder/owner of Peterson's Nursery & Garden Center, Moline.
Edward was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran serving in major battles including Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post #227. He enjoyed fishing and wintering in Florida. He also enjoyed gardening, providing produce to all his family and friends. He was a kind and caring person who had so much love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would do anything for anybody and he never met a stranger that he wouldn't talk to, or help.
