Edward Louis Sturr, 61, of Moline, died December 13, 2006 at Genesis's Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf after a four year battle with cancer.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be 6 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006 with a visitation one hour prior to service time at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to Genesis's Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Gilda's Club or Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 1, 1945 to Edgar & JoAnn Sturr. He was raised in Cincinnati, OH and graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline.
Ed had traveled extensively for his jobs over the years. Most recently was Vice President of Merchandising for Barjan - Rock Island and had worked for Fry's Electronics, Director of Merchandising and Operations, San Jose, CA. He had lived in Seattle, WA where he worked for Pay N Save Drug Stores, and years earlier had worked as Vice President of Divisional Merchandise Manager for Shillio's-Rikes (Federated Dept. Stores in Cincinnati, OH).
In the past two years, he worked as a volunteer for Augustana Public Radio station WVIK 90.3 FM where he read for the hearing impaired. He also worked as volunteer for Quad Cities SCORE Chapter 432 (Counselors to America's Small Businesses).
Ed enjoyed traveling, golfing, cooking, making wine and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
