Edward "Ed" A Johnson

Edward “Ed” A. Johnson, 63, of Moline, IL, died Monday, December 11, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th Street, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Ed was born on July 15, 1954, in Moline, IL, the son of Albert E. and Marjorie M. Scherber Johnson.  He married Joan P. Loehrl on April 24, 1976, in East Moline, IL.  He worked as a plater for Eagle Signal Co. and later for Sherwin Williams.

Ed was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed all sports, especially golf.  He was a 40-year member of the Milan Guy’s & Gal’s Bowling League.  He especially loved his friends at the Yankee Doodle.

Survivors include his wife, Joan P. Johnson, Moline, IL; children, Rachel Johnson, Moline, IL, Emily Johnson, Moline, IL, Lizz (Beau) Frazelle, Moline, IL, Max (Christina) Loehrl, Coal Valley, IL, and Heather Loehrl, Moline, IL; grandson, Isaac; honorary grandchildren, Zach and Alisha; siblings, Brian (Debbie) Johnson, Moline, IL, Robin (Doug) Funk, Le Claire, IA, Brad (Aurora) Johnson, Moline, IL, Mike Johnson, TX, Albert (Michelle) Johnson, Moline, IL, Jane (Aaron) Ellis, Moline, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gus.
