East Moline

Elizabeth Marie Remley, 71, of East Moline, IL passed peacefully on July 14, 2022, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA with loved ones at her side.

Liz was born May 4, 1951 in Peoria, IL, the only child of Donald Gosdin DeBolt and Martha Rae Beagles.  Her parents preceded her in death.  Liz grew up in Mexico, MO, in a loving home of four generations on her mother’s side.  Later, she moved with her parents to Centralia, MO where she graduated from high school.  Her education continued, graduating from Columbia College in Columbia, MO and earning a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri.

On June 4, 1973, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard C. Remley.  Later that month, the couple moved to Moline, IL to begin their careers and eventually raise their family.

Liz began her teaching career at the Opportunity Center in Moline, assisting with physical therapy with non-ambulatory and profoundly mentally challenged children.

Liz spent the next years as a stay-at-home Mom, raising three amazing children.  During those years, Liz was an active member of the Junior Board of the Quad City Symphony.  She helped coordinate a number of music education events for children throughout the Quad Cities.  She served as Chairperson for the 1986 presentation of the Nutcracker Suite. She also served as Treasurer of the Quad City Youth Orchestra.

After raising the children to school age, Liz worked as the Cosmetics Manager at the Silvis Hy-Vee. She finished her working career as a Teacher Aide in the Riverdale Port Byron School District, retiring in 2001.

In retirement, Liz and Rick enjoyed travelling to enjoy the natural beauty of the US and Canada.  Liz enjoyed tending to the flowers and birds in her home garden.

Liz leaves her husband of 49 years, Rick; three children: Daughter Jennifer Remley of St. Charles, MO; Son and Daughter-in-law Aaron and Samantha Remley of Orion, IL; Daughter and Son-in-law Melissa and Grant Bledsoe of Springfield, MO.  She will be missed by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends she touched with her boundless enthusiasm and forever- present smile.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  A Celebration of Life service will follow the Visitation.
