Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Thompson, 88, of Silvis, formerly of Moline, died March 10, 2010 at Lighthouse at Silvis.
Funeral services will be Saturday,March 13,2010 at 11:30 A.M. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be held 4-7 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2010 at the funeral home with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Nurses Scholarship, Moline American Legion Aux. #246, or 8/40 Rock Island County Salon # 137.
Betty was born on April 13, 1921 in Englevale, North Dakota to Benjamin F. and Linna Cleveland Hall Allgood. She married Swen B. Thompson on April 8, 1940 in Independence, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1999.
She had been employed at Kaybee, Block and Kuhl, Carson Pirie Scott and Royal Neighbors of America, from where she retired in 1982. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline.
Betty was a V.I.M. (life) member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moline Unit #246. She was also a past president of 14th District and Third Division of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of 8/40 Rock Island County Salon # 137 of which she was a Petit Chapeau Passe, a Chapeau Passe of the Departemental de Illinois, and Le Demi Chapeau, Central Division. She was a past chairman and District Deputy of VASA Nobel Lodge #288, a past president and life member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Moline #1112, a member of Clara Lodge of Vikings, Moline, a past Esther and life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Moline #258, a past Mother Advisor and past member of the Advisory Board for the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Moline Assembly #22 and held a Grand Cross of Color degree. Betty was a past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Scott County Unit #2 and a past Recorder of Royal Neighbors of America, Camp #102. She also had served as a Faithful Folder at the church.
