Emmett A. Frey, 88, of Moline, IL, died January 20, 2017, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ in Moline, American Legion Post 246 Honor Guard, or to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Emmett was born on August 15, 1928, in Moline, IL, the son of Carl W. and Frances Moore Frey. He married Janice K. Evans on May 29, 1953, in Moline, IL.
Emmett was a graduate of Moline High School and attended Augustana College in Rock Island. He was a veteran, having served during the Korean War. Emmett worked for American Air Filter for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Following his retirement, he worked part time for 22 years as a delivery person for K’nees Florist. He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Moline, American Legion, Moline Masonic Lodge 1014 AF & AM, Moline VFW, and Forty and Eight.
Survivors include his wife, Jan K. Frey; daughter, Katherine (Roger) Hutton, Newberry, FL; son, Michael (Mary Ellen) Frey, Gainesville, FL; grandson, Nicholas Hutton, Alachua, FL; granddaughters, Stephanie Hutton, Stuart, FL, Taylor Frey, Gainesville, FL, and Allison Frey, Ft. Meyers, FL; 1 great grandson, Joshua Morse, Stuart, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Todd Frey.
