Eric “Joe” Lewis, 58, of Milan, IL, was carried home to Jesus, surrounded by family, Thursday, November 23, 2017, at his home, after a life long battle with Crohn’s Disease.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. with a visitation from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1611 41st Street, Moline, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family for a college fund to be established for his daughters. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eric was born on November 3, 1959, in Fort Riley, KS, the son of John M. and Sally A. Behr Lewis. He married Krista K. Dufelmeier on September 4, 1993, in Colona, IL. He worked as a counselor for Arrowhead Ranch.
Eric was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He played slow pitch softball and was an Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan. Eric especially loved playing cards with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Krista Lewis; daughters, who meant the whole world to him, Audrey and Emma; mother, Sally Lewis; siblings, Stephanie (Robert) O’Donnell, Matthew (Annette) Lewis, Carey (Juliana) Lewis, Christina (Eric) Kostamo, Mark (Jennifer) Lewis, Brian “Pat” (Lori) Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis, and G. Kyle Lewis; in-laws, Al and Joyce Dufelmeier; sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Beth (Greg) Kern and Darla (Dave) Weber; special aunts, Marie Raney, Agnes Lewis, and Elizabeth Washburn; several nieces and nephews; dogs, Prince, Harry, and Fonzie.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Grover and Agnes Lewis, Charles, J. and Ann Behr.
