Esther Hachtel, 98, of Rock Island, died peacefully June 4, 2010 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 153 19th Avenue, Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.
Esther was born on January 20, 1912 in Elizabeth, Illinois to C.S. and Emilie Rath Wurster. She married Walter Hachtel in Dixon, Illinois on November 23, 1944.
The family lived in Moline for several years, and in Port Byron for 30 years. After her husband died, she moved to Moline, and has lived for the past ten years at Friendship Manor in Rock Island. Esther enjoyed crafts and made lap robes for nursing homes.
