Esther P. Herberg

Esther Pauline Sandberg Herberg went to be with Jesus at the age of 93. Esther entered this life on June 10, 1911 in Moline to Carl and Hilma Sandberg. Esther passed away on May 14, 2005 at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at First Covenant Church 3303-41st Street, Moline. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Estherdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery.
Growing up in Moline Esther married Stanley Herberg on June 24, 1935. Esther was a faithful member of First Covenant Church in Moline for over 40 years serving as a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the choir and King's Helpers. All 3 of their children ( John, Sally and Dianne ) were confirmed there as well as several grandchildren. Esther received great joy from church, family and friends. She loved to travel, sing, crochet, sew and visit with everyone. In the last few years she enjoyed cable news, food ( mainly sweets ) and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.
Esther is survived by a sister , Ethel Sandberg of Moline; son, John ( Merrilene) Herberg of Orion; daughters; Sally (Robert) Niner of Branson, MO and Dianne Herberg Whiles of Moline, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Esther will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
She is greeted at the Kingdoms gate by her husband, 10 siblings, parents, grandson Kevin Niner, and great grandson Kyle Niner. Her spirit and memories continue to live on in the families of Dianne Herberg Whiles of Moline, Lorena and Bob Sanders of Coal Valley, Lallie and Todd Kieso of TX., Libbie and Dan Pettie of Matherville, Laina and Kevin Myers of CA, Liza and Edgar Eckhardt of Orion, Langston Whiles and Joey Rumler of Moline and Kim Brown of MO.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center.
