Eunice G. Cook, age 87 of Geneseo, formerly of Orion died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion.
Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd 1301-4th Street, Orion. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the church of which she was a member.
Eunice was born September 26, 1918 in Galesburg, the daughter of Vanner and Edna ( Stromquist ) Erickson. She married Allwyn B. Cook on February 11, 1939 in Orion. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1995.
Eunice retired in 1972 as a postal clerk for the Orion Post Office after 28 years. She was a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion, where she was also a member of WELCA. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of many card clubs. In previous years, she was also on many bowling leagues.
Survivors include her daughter Linda and husband Phil Venable of Geneseo; 2 grandchildren Terresa and husband John Porizek of Plano, TX and Phillip David Venable and wife Nikki of Yorkville, IL; 3 great-grandchildren Joshua Porizek of Plano. TX, Phillip Ryan Venable and Emily Venable of Yorkville, IL; sisters-in-law Margaret Erickson of Moline and Ellen McNeal of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother Kermit Erickson and her parents.
