Evelyn J. Knowles, 84, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, at 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Park Side Grill, 2307 5th Avenue, Moline. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to her family or the American Diabetes Association.
Evelyn was born on June 10, 1928, in Le Claire, IA, the daughter of Milo and Vera H. (Livingston) Rock. She married Loyd J. "Whitey" Knowles on April 15, 1951, in Moline, IL. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1996. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. For 14 years she worked as a Crossing Guard for the City of Moline. Evelyn was a life member of PTA and past president of PTA at the former Grant School. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Plymouth, IL, and the DeMolay Mothers. Evelyn enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and canning. She loved whole extended family and beloved dog, Peanut, very much.
