Evelyn M. Meersman, 79, of Moline, died January 6, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities or Niabi Zoological Society.
Evelyn was born September 6, 1930 in Corning, AR to Elector and Dora (Case) Robinson. She married Fred Meersman on October 13, 1954 in Moline.
Evelyn was a former president of the Jefferson PTA, president of Moline Tavern Association; president of Meersman's Bon-Air Inc., and had been an election judge and precinct committeeman. She had also been a member of Oakwood Country Club and Twin Isles Country Club in Punta Gorda, FL. She was secretary of Pirate Harbor Yacht Cub and a member of the Rock Island County Women's Democratic Association.
Even with all her activities, Evelyn was an avid reader. She loved reading all different types of literature.
She is survived by Husband Fred Meersman, Sons Mike and Marty Meersman, Steve and Melanie Meersman, Grandchildren Stefanie, Alex, Ben and Jon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Meredith.
