Everett F. Boyd, 81, of Colona, IL, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Heritage Church, 4801 44th Street, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Heritage Church or to Colona Fire Dept.

Everett was born on December 25, 1931, in Eldon, IA, the son of Floyd and Fern (Harvey) Boyd. He graduated from Eldon High School and married Jessie Gray on October 14, 1956, in Silvis, IL. Everett worked as a Railroad Carman for the former Rock Island Lines and later retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1993. Prior to working for Burlington Northern, he worked at East Moline Metal Products as a welder. Having served in the United States Army during the Korean War, he was also a member of the Colona American Legion. Everett belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Carman Union as a Treasurer. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working in his yard. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
