Everett E. Collier

Everett “Gus” E. Collier, 82, of Orion, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.

Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at Western Township Cemetery.  Military honors will be conducted by the ?????  Memorials may be made to Compassus Living Foundation.  Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., is assisting the family.

Gus was born on November 5, 1936, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Jonas and Sinah (Lindsay) Collier.  He married Patricia Cunningham on October 27, 1979 , and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2019.  Gus retired from Tennant Truck Lines, Inc. in Orion, where he worked as a truck driver.  He enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, and watching westerns.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles, both in Ottumwa.

Survivors include his daughter, Jean Billingsley, Ottumwa; grandchildren, Jonathan Eugene Menuis, and Christa (Tristan) Grothe; sisters, Joan (Charles) Greene, and Loretta Sharp.

He was preceded in death by his children, Jonas Eugene Collier, Melinda Kay Collier, parents, sisters, Alberta Murphy and Marge Adams, and brothers, Elmer, Robert, Ernie, and Ed.
