Floyd F. Smith, age 90, of Moline, IL passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704-38th Street, Rock Island. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 246. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island for The Manna Feeding Center in Kenya, Africa - Missionaries Bobby & Lisa Bechtel.
Floyd was born November 12, 1914 in Edmonton, KY, the son of John V. and Nora Syra Smith. He married Violette Ferne Sullivan on April 20, 1946 in Covington, KY. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2004.
Floyd was employed in the foundry for 30 years at John Deere Plow Planter. Floyd was a WW II Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church for 59 years where he was a former trustee. Floyd was also a board member of the Plow Planter Credit Union. He was an avid Cubs fan. Floyd greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, grandson Jonathan Jackson and brothers Hershel, James Russell, Ralph & Bedford Smith.
