Floyd R. Vroman, 90, of Moline, passed away February 5, 2025, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday February 15, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the services. Cremation rites will follow the services, and the inurnment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Foundation.
Floyd was born on July 14, 1934, in Edgington, IL, the son of Henry and Estelle (Gould) Vroman. He married Zita R. Miller on January 21, 1965, in Davenport. He began working as an inspector at America Air Filter. He later became a firefighter for the City of Davenport, retiring in July of 1994, after 26 years. Floyd was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Davenport and an active member of the Davenport Association of Professional Firefighters Local 17. He played the drums in the Loren Elliot Orchestra. He liked going to the casinos, was an avid Card Club Member, and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini sports.
Survivors include his wife, Zita; children, Scott (Alyson) Vroman, Dubuque, Candace (Jerry) Lopez, Davenport; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Eyler; and brother, Lyle Vroman.
