Francis Woodrow Armstrong, age 93 of East Moline died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center-Ilini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church , 356-16th Avenue, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Immanuel Lutheran Church .
Fran was born November 5, 1912 in Rock Island the son of Francis and Gertrude Buntenbach Armstrong. He married Virginia Nicholas on December 13, 1936 in Davenport.
Fran was employed as a machinist for Farmall, J.I. Case and the Arsenal, retiring from Miehle Corp. in Chicago in 1976. Fran was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served extensively on the grounds committee at the various churches he attended. He enjoyed traveling, home maintenance, and gardening and he missed very few family events.
