Francis E. Giese, 91, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Rock Falls, IL, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Pleasant View Rehab and Health Care Center, Morrison, IL.
Per his wishes there will be no services and burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be provided by Moline American Legion Post # 246. Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice or to Moline American Legion Post #246. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Francis was born on October 11, 1921, in Tampico, IL, the son of Ehler and Tena (Jacobsen) Giese. He attended one room rural grade schools.
Francis served in the United States Army during WWII from January 14, 1944, to January 17, 1947, and was stationed in Germany, France, and Belgium. Upon returning home, he worked for several farmers in the Rock Falls/Tampico area, City Service station and I-H in Rock Falls. Francis later moved to the Quad Cities and worked at Walt's Citgo and Shell Stations. He retired from John Deere Planter Works in 1986. One of his greatest joys in life was helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
