Francis E. Olson, 84, of Moline, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church Missions, Moline or Christian Friendliness.
Francis was born December 20, 1926, in Moline, the son of Carl H. Sr. and Viola L. Sellnow Olson. He married Vivian E. Nelson on May 22, 1948 in Moline. Francis had previously been employed at Strombeck & Becker and also at Deere & Co. in the export order department.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the General Headquarters of the Pacific in Japan from March 1945-November 1946. Francis was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline, where he was a choir member and he also served as a Sunday school teacher at the Big Island branch. He also enjoyed woodworking.
