Frank "Steve" Verfaillie

March 4, 1922 — December 14, 2017

Frank “Steve” Verfaillie, 95, of Rock Island, formerly of Moline, IL, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Silver Cross Health & Rehabilitation Pavilion, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017, with a visitation from 10 a.m until the  service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1330 13th Street, Moline.  Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the American Lung Association.

Steve was born on March 4, 1922, in Moline, IL, the son of Leon and Zoe (Gilbert) Verfaillie.  He married Hazel Preston on May 4, 1944, in Davenport, IA.  He worked as an industrial engineer for the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring on March 4, 1982.

Steve was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline and the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Steve especially enjoyed meeting with his Moline High School Class of 1940, golfing, and roller skating (in his much younger years).

Survivors include his wife, Hazel, sons, Michael Verfaillie, Ft. Myers, FL, and Randy (Marilyn) Verfaillie, Conifer, CO; daughter, Debra (Kevin) Cox, Castaic, CA; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry.
