Fred Lue, 78, of Carbon Cliff, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 05, 2022, at his home.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Family.
Fred was born on November 20, 1943, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Fred and Ila Forbes Lue. He married the former Patricia Tolliver on December 27, 1977, in East Moline.
Fred was a United States Army veteran who served in Europe from 1963 to 1966. Mr. Lue was employed with his father at the Plantation Nite Club during his last part of high school before joining the Army. After his military service, he was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal. He spent 37 years there in various computer related positions. During this time, he was awarded the Civilian Achievement Award.
Fred was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders in Iowa and Illinois. Also, he belonged to Marine Moms, All Vets, American Legion Post 26, Soldier Angels, Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, and All Vets Healing Field of the Quad Cities. He spent time building plastic military models and enjoyed playing guitar over the years he played in Royal Rockers during high school, Gemeni 5 while in Germany and later with the Sunrise band. He enjoyed reading and visiting historical sites. Fred especially enjoyed homecomings of military personnel at the Quad Cities Airport. More than anything, Fred loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Lue; children, Jeremy (Britta) Lue, Ken Lue, Tim (Lyndsey) Lue, Kim Congleton and Chris Congleton; grandchildren, Alexis, Noah and Leo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
