Gary L. Carlson, 71, of Milan, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Kirk, Huggins, & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 2:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
Gary was born on March 27, 1939 in Moline to Rueben and Mabel McGinnis Carlson. He married Donna Murphy in November 1960 in Moline. He then married Lynn Lough Farwell on April 10, 1990 in Clinton, Iowa.
Gary was an electrical maintenance supervisor at Alcoa for 32 years. He worked at Rock Island Electric Motor Repair for 12 years. Gary also ran his own lawn service for 5 years. He was an avid golf player and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Iowa Hawkeye Basketball. Gary and his wife, Lynn, enjoyed traveling. They also enjoyed country dancing and competitive dancing.
