Gary Miller

Gary E. Miller, 75, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the main auditorium of New Hope Foursquare Church, 2305 7th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to New Hope Foursquare Church.

Gary was born on November 17, 1940, in Moline, IL, the son of Vernon D. and Dorothy Barr Miller.  He married Linda L. Nelson on February 4, 1961, in Moline, IL.  He was a member of New Hope Foursquare Church.

He began his career as a pharmaceutical buyer for McKesson/Robins in Rock Island, IL.  His life work was as general manager in the motel/hotel hospitality industry.  In 1991, Gary and his wife, Linda, purchased the Inn on the Square Bed and Breakfast, which also housed a tea room, ladies apparel, and antique shop.  In 2005, they sold the inn and retired back to their hometown of Moline, IL.

Gary was a member of various motel/hotel associations and rotary clubs.  He was president of Oakland Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Museum of Christian Heritage in Oakland, IL.

Survivors include his wife; children, Timothy (Erin) Miller, Omaha, NE, and Pamela (Kurt) Kruidenier, Sunrise Beach, MO; 7 grandchildren, Gary A. Miller, Brittany Miller, Matthew Miller, Tamra Smith, Tonya (Tyler “T.J.”) Finch, Tomas Smith, and Kyle Kruidenier; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nancy McKinzie, Billingham, WA, and Judy (Craig) Moir, Billingham, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
