George M. Mc Coy

George M. Mc Coy, 76, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, November 04, 2013, at his home after a long battle with Bronchiectasis and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3801 7th Street, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.

George was born on November 2, 1937, in Paterson, NJ, the son of George T. and Hildegard (Hagedorn) Mc Coy. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Barbara "Bobbi" Shepard on February 18, 1961, in New Jersey.

George started working at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey, later moving to the Rock Island Arsenal in 1973. After 38 years of government service he retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as the Director of AMCCOM.

He was a very active member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline and the Layleader as well. In his younger years, George was active in scouting continuing as far as Eagle Scout and later he became a Cub Master and Scout Master. He also coached Little League Baseball and the Babe Ruth League in Geneseo, IL. George was the Treasurer of Quail Run Master Association. He traveled to Arizona in the winters and loved taking cruises. Above all, George loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Mc Coy of East Moline, IL; son, Todd (Amy) Mc Coy and their children, Brody, Connor and Tori of Schnecksville, PA; son, Scott (Jolene) Mc Coy and their children, Riley and Carly of Ankeny, IA; brother, Rick (Lee) Mc Coy of Syracuse, NY; sister-in-law, Pegge (Bob) Whalen of Hyde Park, VT; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hildegard, and his father, George.
