George William Rose, 69, of Coal Valley, passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd.  Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019, at the funeral home.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Orion American Legion Post #255.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to the family.

George was born on November 26, 1949, in Moline.  He was the son of John T. and Bertha I. (Howell) Rose.  George married Linda Lindstrom in Moline on April 3, 1971.  George was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1967 – 1969. He was employed with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation as a lead worker out of the Silvis Yard for over 30 years.  George was a former Commander in the Orion American Legion Post #255, he was on the Honor Guard, and he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion.  In his younger years he was a part-time farmer, an avid hunter and taught hunter safety.  He enjoyed watching the QC Thunder, Bulls, Cubs, and Bears.  George also played the guitar and piano.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; siblings, Donald Rose, Steve (Karen) Rose, Marcia Rose (Robert) Hayd, Janet (Pat) Parson; granddaughter, Alyssa McCorkle; and son-in-law, Gerald M. Miller Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jennifer L. Miller.
