Dr. George Kenneth Thomas, 85, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Pekin, IL, died March 27, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Cemetery in Spring Valley, IL. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.
Dr. Thomas was born on March 13, 1928 in Spring Valley, IL, the son of George and Rose (Scarpellini) Thomas. He graduated from Hall Township High School and served in the United States Navy as a Lt. Commander in the Dental Corps during the Korean War Era. George traveled extensively with the Navy and visited many countries. He enjoyed visiting Italy and Mexico and he spoke fluent Spanish. In 1954, Dr. Thomas graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, was a member of PSI Omega Dental Fraternity, and was also a member of the Tazwell Dental Study Club. He also was a member of the American Dental Association. For 35 years, he worked as a Dentist in Pekin, IL, retiring in 1996. Dr. Thomas attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong White Sox fan, crossword puzzle fanatic, and loved to play cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
