Georgia L. Callas

Georgia L. Callas, 93, of Port Byron, formerly of Moline died May 8, 2007 at the home of her nephew John J. and Shan Corelis where she had made her home for the last eight years.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Georgia was born January 9, 1914 in Muscatine, IA to Louis and Helen (Petros) Callas. She was the second of eight children. She graduated from St. Mathias School, Muscatine, IA. She attended Patricia Stephens School of Design. She graduated from Cosmetology School, Moline and later taught at the school.
Georgia was formerly employed by Henry Carlson Signs, Rock Island. She operated her own beauty salon for many years and was later employed by family owned restaurants, The Hitching Post and the Stage Stop.
Georgia was a devout member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptohos Society. George, as she was lovingly referred, was loved by all who met her and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline H. Corelis, Catherne Varlas and Irene Rensink and her brothers John, Peter and Spiro Callas.
