Gerald R. Kipp, 70, of Hampton, died Tuesday, December 09, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center - Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church, 20828 Friedens Road, Port Byron, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Port Byron. In lieu of flowers, Gerald asked for memorials to be made to the American Diabetes Association or to his church.
Gerald was born on January 30, 1944, in Moline, IL, the son of Raymond "Foss" and Bessie Hofstetter Kipp.
He married Pamela A. Montgomery on August 4, 1972, in Milan. Gerald proudly served in the United States Army Reserves.
Gerald was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Port Byron and a former church council member. He was very active with the church and in his younger years played on the church softball team. He was an avid sports fan and also played in over 50 leagues at Green Valley.
Gerald was a member of the East Moline UAW Local.
Gerald and his wife loved traveling together. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
