Gerald “Jerry” Osborn Owens, 80, of Moline, passed peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017, at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Those wishing to attend should meet at 1 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Jerry’s name.
Mr. Owens was born on October 9, 1936, in Moline, IL, to parents, William E. and Anna E. Owens. He graduated from the Moline High School in 1954 and served 2 years in the United States Army. Mr. Owens worked as an artist, a self-employed Interior Designer in Chicago, IL, and as a First Mate on a private yacht.
Mr. Owens is survived by a brother, Wilbert (Jane) Owens; brother-in-law, Joe Krol; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Owens and Luetta Owens; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; dear friends, Peter Moeller, Tom and Sheryl Sharpton.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Ann Krol; brothers, Richard Owens and Dennis Owens.
