Gilbert "Gil" Malcolm Perkins

Gilbert “Gil” Malcolm Perkins, 80, of Colona, IL, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 201 1st Street, Colona, IL.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Cremation rites will be accorded and private burial of cremains will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Colona Community Fire Department.

Gil was born on September 10, 1937, in Moline, IL, the son of Malcolm and Germaine Polfliet Perkins.  He married Patricia Lydon on February 9, 1963, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  He worked as a machine operator for John Deere Harvester for 30 years, retiring in September of 1993.

Gil was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  He enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, golf, and painting.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Perkins, Colona, IL; sons, Kent (Sharon) Perkins, East Moline, IL, and Thomas (Jen) Perkins, Colona, IL; daughters, Susan Spencer, East Moline, IL, Nancy (Roland) Bartscher, Port Byron, IL, and Karin (Jason) LeGrand, Colona, IL; grandchildren, Conner, Clare, Sydney, Cole, and Bryson; brothers, Robert (Carey) Perkins and Jerry Perkins; all of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell Perkins and Alan Perkins; sisters, Elaine Mueting and Judith Rohm.
