Gilberto Duarte

Gilberto Duarte, 75, of Rock Island, passed away, June 25, 2024, at his daughter’s Lynda and Ray’s home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the family. 

Gilberto was born on July 15, 1948, in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico, the son of Consuelo Avitia and Andres Duarte. Gilberto worked as a mechanic in the Chicago land area for 45 years. He was a caring man who loved his family and had a strong faith in God.

Survivors include his children Coni (Abel Colin) Duarte, Lynda (Ray) Eddleman, Sulema Duarte, Andres Duarte, Gilberto Duarte Jr., Anays Duarte, Diana Duarte, and Perla Hurtado; grandchildren Madison Eddleman, Wesley Eddleman, Tyler Eddleman, Oreo Hernandez, Camila Ramirez, Alejandro Soto, Jennifer Soto, and Dayanara Soto; siblings Juan Duarte, Miguel Duarte, Irene Ramirez, Socorro Alvarez, Ricardo Duarte, Juri Duarte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Maria, son Alonso, brother Manuel Avitia, and sister Martha Sanchez.
