Gladys Louise Holtman, 89 of Rock Island, died, April 22, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on April 24, 2007 at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Stacie Fidlar will be officiating. Burial will be at the National Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow the committal service at the cemetery.
Gladys Anderson was born on August 11, 1917 in Andover, IL to Gustaf and Ella Swanson Anderson. She married Carl Holtman on October 28, 1939 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1983.
Gladys was employed as a cook at the Svea Cafe on Fifth Ave. Moline, and later at the Eagle Diner. She then became a cook and manager of the 5th Avenue Cafe then as a cook with the Harlans Truck Stop. Gladys retired from the Midwest Bank, Moline as part of the cleaning staff.
Mrs. Holtman was a member of the ladies auxullary of the Moline VFW Post #2153 and the Friends Circle. Gladys was a diehard "cubbies" fan and she loved her time visiting her sister and fishing in Wisconsin. Cooking was truly her art.
