Greta Ann Tufts, 77, of Moline passed away on May 8, 2011, with her family by her side.
Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello, Iowa alongside her parents. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Greta was born on December 4, 1933 in Monticello, Iowa to Martin and Christine Marugg Buol. Her early years were happily spent on the family farm in Monticello. In 1953 she married Robert Tufts with whom she had four children. They later divorced.
Greta enjoyed a long and successful career with the Rock Island Line and Dri-Line railroads. After retiring from the railroad she opened and managed Bridal Rental in Moline, IL where she put her seamstress skills to use and loved assisting brides for over a decade.
She took pleasure in visiting with family and friends, cooking, reading and especially playing bridge. She also loved flower gardening and planted an extensive perennial garden that filled her yard. In healthier years she enjoyed traveling and antiquing; searching for Nippon and Rosewood pottery.
Greta was many things to many people - devoted mother, a good friend, a hard worker, and a strong confident woman known for her "telling it like it is" attitude. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and respected her.
