Guy E. Massey, 65 of Moline, passed away March 16, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19th at Riverview Free Will Baptist Church, 820-18th Street., Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Ty Massey Memorial Little League Baseball Field, Colona.
Guy was born on December 18, 1945 in Moline the son of Marvin and Dorothy Coopman Massey. He was a 1964 graduate of Moline High School where he played football and baseball and was named to the All State Football and Baseball Teams. He met his High School sweetheart in 9th grade and later married her ,Joan Martin, on October 9, 1965 in Bettendorf.
Later in life he coached his son, Ty's, baseball team. Guy was currently employed at Packaging Technologies in Davenport for 24 years. He was a member and former treasurer for the Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Deere Harvester Bass Club and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and the Fighting Illini. His most enjoyable times were spent watching his grandchildren in their sporting events where he was their "BIGGEST FAN AND COACH"

He was preceded in death by his son Ty Massey who was killed in the line of duty as a police officer in 1993 and his parents.
