Hans A. Thomsen, 95, formerly of Moline, IL died Friday, March 02, 2012 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by Moline American Legion Post 246. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name.
Hans was born on May 22, 1916 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the son of Alfred Albert and Agathe (Frandsen) Thomsen. He came to America at age 7 years through Ellis Island. He married Phyllis Eileen Baker on June 24, 1939 in Waterloo, IA. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2005. He worked as a lineman for the power company. He then served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood Texas as a Prison Guard. Later he worked as an electrician for Robins Electric and Art-O-Lite, retiring in 1980. He had 45 years in the local I.B.E.W. He was a former member of Moline American Legion Post 246, IBEW, and National NECA. Hans was a private pilot and enjoyed fishing and traveling. His greatest joy was taking care of his yard and home which he built himself starting in 1948.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Henning; sisters, Yrsa Hannan and Ruth Wisely.
