Harold S. Gunnerson

Harold S. Gunnerson, 91, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted, by East Moline American Legion Post 227.
Harold was born on December 7, 1924, in Moline, IL, the son of Arthur and Hazel Loding Gunnerson. He married Betty J. Groth on December 15, 1946, in Moline, IL, and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2003. In his younger years, he farmed in the Alpha, IL, area. Later, Harold worked in maintenance for Deere & Co. in Moline, retiring in 1987.
Harold was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. during WWII. He was a member of the Thor Lodge #9 Independent Order of Vikings in Moline. He especially enjoyed woodworking and was very skilled with making beautiful hutches and cabinets.
Survivors include his son, Jerry Gunnerson, El Paso, IL; grandson, Seth Gunnerson, Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Carol Spore, Muscatine, IA; brother, Richard (Lovadee) Gunnerson, Andover, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Vicki Gunnerson; brothers, Arthur and Dale Gunnerson.
