Harold W Lage

Harold W. Lage, 91, of Milan, IL, died peacefully at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center on the evening of Thursday April 7, 2016.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private burial of cremains will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harold was born on February 2, 1925, to Marvin and Edna (Paulsen) Lage in Rock Island's West End. He served in the US Navy Pacific Theatre during WW II. Harold married Joyce Graham on May 11, 1946.

He worked as a salesman and general manager for several Quad City plumbing and heating supply companies, most notably for Trachtenbarg Plumbing and Heating. He retired at 82 serving as a general factotum for Wirth's Plumbing in Geneseo, Il. With the support of his children, Harold was able to live independently until the last three weeks of his life.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Susan) Lage, Rock Island, IL, Patrick (Terri Dessauer) Lage, Virginia Beach, VA, Andrew (Dennis Maki) Lage, Iowa City, IA, Matthew (Robert Miklo) Lage, Iowa City, IA, and Christine Lage, Rock Island, IL; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and beloved sister-in-laws, Margaret Lage and Rosemary Graham.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, Megan, brothers, Merle and Marvin Jr., and, later in life, his companion and friend, Alberta Engels.

The family wishes to thank with deepest gratitude the staff of St Anthony's and Heartland Hospice.

There will be a private internment.
