Hazel Irene Spencer

Hazel Irene Spencer, 89, of East Moline, died February 28, 2008 at Parkview Healthcare Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
Hazel was born October 31, 1918 in Ellisville, IL to Albert and Stella (Melvin) Cameron. She married Everett Spencer on April 30, 1949 in Lewistown, IL. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1952.
Hazel worked for 20 years at the Illinois State Hospital, East Moline as a psychiatric aid and tech. She retired in 1972.
Hazel was a member of First Christian Church, Moline. She was also a member of the Colona House Social Club. She belonged to the Silvis Area Youth Softball (SAYS) where she was honored by throwing out the first pitch at the district tournament. She baked cookies for the SAYS group for many years and was known as "grandma" by players and parents. She also helped with the baseball and basketball teams. She also enjoyed gardening.
