Helen W. Kettering, 95, of Sherrard, died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301-4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sherrard Community Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society, or to Parkinson's Research Foundation.
Helen was born March 20, 1916, in Sherrard, the daughter of Benjamin and Gertrude Johnson Davison. She married Biram Kettering on June 22, 1940, in Coal Valley. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1972.
Helen had been employed as the secretary to the principal for 20 years at the Sherrard High School, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Sherrard Community Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the UPW, quilting and embroidering. She loved making homemade Christmas ornaments and stockings for her family. Helen was also an avid Cubs fan.
