Helen L. Schumm, 79, of Orion died August 3, 2009 at Hope Creek, East Moline.
Visitation will be Friday, August 7, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. There will be a private family graveside service at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in her name.
Helen was born March 14, 1930 in Cypress, IL to Frank and Fern Nickerson. She married James "Red" W. Porter in 1949 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1980. She later married Benjamin F. Schumm on December 10, 1983 in Orion.
Helen and her husband owned and operated Benjamin Schumm Excavating, Orion. She enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts and her flower gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with her Boston Terrier puppies Snuggles and Peanut.
