Herman Lieving, Jr.

Herman G. Lieving Jr, 89, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Arcadia Care at Aledo.

Herm was born Nov 17, 1935, in Coal Valley, IL to Herman G. and Verdie (Morrison) Lieving. After graduating high school, he served in the Army as a mechanic. He married Rosemary Younglove on September 12, 1968. Herm was a carpenter and a very accomplished wood worker.

Survivors include Peggy (Mark) McMurray, Salem, WI, Jeff (Mary) Schwartz, Lakeland, FL and Tim Lieving, FL.

Herm was proceeded in death by his parents, spouse, children Doug Schwartz, Janet Magnuson, Susan Munson and all 6 of his siblings.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be provided by Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Inurnment will occur at Lutheran Cemetery in Mendota, IL, and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date.
